Biographical Notes
According to Hedges family lore told to Jeannette Edwards Rattray, Adam was brought as a child of 5 years of age "from the Congo." Hedges "had a big family of slaves" who were descendents of Adam.
"...five children were born to him on the place and [Hedges] built a house for [Adam's] son John, who drove their oxen" circa 1855.
